Academic qulification:
you should have a bachelor degree in any subjects from a recognized university.percentage of marks obtained in the bachelor degrre does not count.
your degree should be approved by the UGC/AICTE/Medical council of india.
if you are studying in he final year then you can apply for this xam but when you get pass in the exam you will have to submit all the documents that provide evidence that you have passed your graduation.
Age Limit:
for appearing for IAS exam your minimum age should be21 years and should not be above 30 years.
However reserved categoriy candidates will be eligible to get the age relaxation facility
OBC category candidates will gets 3 years of age relaxation after crossing the upper age limits.
SC/ST category candidates will get 5 years of age relaxation.
Importent:
there is limitation for appearing in this exam.you cannot appear in this exam for more than the limits allowed.
general category candidates cannot be able to apply for this exam for more than  times.
OBC category candidates will be able to apply for this exam for 7 times.
 To be an IAS officer,you will have to appear for civil service exam,conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission),candidates who are among the highest scorers are selected for IAS.
Tobe elligible for the exam you must fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
1.You must hold a bachelor's degree from the recognized universitys.
2.You must be within the age limits of 21-30 years.
Maximum age limits are relaxed up to 5 years for SC/ST and 3 year for OBC.

Application:
The application from the obtained from designated post office / head post office , after the notifications published by UPSC.
Apart from this , you may also apply online through www.upsconline.nic.in now as preparation is concerned , the candidates must go through the format of the examination given below:
Paper1:
Current events of a national and international importence,
history of the india and indian national movement.
Indian and world Geography - physical ,social,econamic,geography of india and the world,indian policy and governance-constitution,political,panchayatraj,public policy,rights issues etc
Econamic and social development - sustaniable development , poverty,
inclusion,demograpics,social secoter intiatives etc...,
General studies on environmental ecology , bio diversity and climate change.
General science.
Paper2:
Comprehension
interpersonal skills including communication skills
Logical reasoning and analyitical ability
Decision making and problem solving
General mental ability
basic numeracy (numbers and their relations , orders of magnitude etc.class 10th level)
Data interpretation (charts,graph,tables,data sufficiency etc-class 10th level)
The main exam compriess of 4 compulsory subjects and two optional papers
The compulsory subjects for the main exam are:
1.One indian language 2.English 3.Essay 4.General studies.
The optional subjects are as follows:
 Agriculture , mathematics , animal husbandry & veterinary science , mechanical engineering , botany , medical science , chemistry , philosophy , civil engineering , physics , commerce , political science,econamics , psychology , electrical engineering , public administration , geography , sociolgy , geology, statstics , indian history , zoology , law
To do well in the IAS examination , you must join a good coaching centre , read updated study materials and prepare as per the syllabus and previous years question patterns.for the previous years question papers you may readers you may refer to the official website of UPSC
Question paper marks:
1.Optional subjects(300 marks) 2.General studies(150 marks)
Fee:
Rs.150 (rupees one hundred and fifty only)
(No fee for SC / STs / Physically challanged candidates)
IAS EXAM WRITTEN TEST PATTERN
Paper 1:
one of the indian languages to be selected by the candidates from the eighteen languages included in the 5th schedule to the constitution 
(qualifying paper)-300marks
paper2 :
English(qualifying paper) - 300 marks
paper3:
Essay - 200 marks
paper 4 & 5:
general studies ( 300 marks for each paper) - 600 marks
Paper 6,7,8&9:
any two subjects (each having two papers )
to be selected from the prescribed optional subjects (300 marks for each paper) - 1200 marks
Total marks for written examination- 2000 marks
Interview Test -300 marks

Grand Total-2300 marks
